TENSHI HOUSE

MISSION: To provide permanent or transitional housing for persons with disabilities, behavioral health or addiction who are in active recovery. Residents work toward supported self-sufficiency through guidance, daily activities, and a safe environment in which to live. At Tenshi Housing, our residents call it “home”.

VISION: Our vision stems from the definition of “tenshi’ which is “angel”. Providing supportive housing and other daily services, we help people with physical disabilities, mental illness or addiction. The values of the Tenshi House focus on trust, resilience, friendship and family. Mentorship is provided to aid in client’s recovery with the help of house managers, counselors and peer mentorship.

CODE OF ETHICS

Our company’s code of ethics is a set of principles to ensure that our entire company from the owners to the employees will act with honesty and integrity in all facets of day-to-day operations. We engage in behavior that will benefit our residents. Our staff will treat all residents with dignity and respect. As a company we will safeguard our resident’s privacy and confidentiality. We will not discriminate due to race, religion, age, sexual orientation, disability, national ancestry.

CONFIDENTIALITY POLICY AND PROCEDURES

  1. Lock and secure all confidential information
  2. Shred confidential documents when they’re no longer needed
  3. Make sure we only review confidential information on secure devices
  4. Only disclose information to other employees when it’s necessary and authorized
  5. Keep confidential documents inside our company’s premises unless it’s necessary to move them

RESIDENT SCREENING POLICY& PROCEDURES

  1. All applicants must be able to engage independently in major life activities including eating, walking, dressing, bathing, and other activities consistent with independent living
  2. No sex offenders allowed
  3. Interviews with residents on the phone or in person. Applicants must be assessed for their ability to become part of a harmonious home environment, taking into consideration the needs of individual residents and the character of the existing resident family
  4. Applicants must have the firm intention of remaining clean and sober

RESIDENT ORIENTATION POLICY & PROCEDURES

  1. Upon arrival to the residents, we give a house tour showing them all the amenities
  2. Introduce them to their house mates and house managers
  3. Explain the procedures of the cleaning schedule and assign a daily chore
  4. Teach them policies and procedures in case of an emergency
  5. Explain house rules and regulations

GOOD NEIGHBOR POLICIES

Homes are expected to make a positive contribution to the life of the neighborhood. Excessive neighborhood or community complaints are evidence of poor home management and will be considered as possible grounds for termination. Residents must be given contact information of a responsible party representing the home and instructed that the information must be provided to neighbors upon request.

  1. Each resident contributes to the weekly upkeep of a minimum of one communal area
  2. Maintain cleanliness of common areas
  3. Dispose of trash and recycling on a weekly basis
  4. Keep noise levels to a respectful level during daytime and evening hours
  5. Participate in keeping the grounds and building well-maintained
  6. Adhere to on-site and local area parking rules and regulations.

HAZARDOUS ITEMS SEARCH & PROCEDUREs

  1. Check all belongings before entering residents
  2. We do not allow any hazardous chemicals or materials on the property

EMERGENCY POLICY AND PROCEURES

Residents are informed upon admission the procedure to follow during an emergency which is also stated in the resident’s rules. This is set in place to ensure the safety of anyone that is present in the Tenshi House during an emergency. In case of an emergency, call 911 for: 

  • Fire
  • Violence or a threat of violence
  • Suspicious persons hanging around premises
  • Burglary
  • A life-threatening medical situation
  • Chest pain
  • Ingestion of toxic chemicals or substances
  • Shortness of breath
  • Suicide attempt
  • Unconscious individual
  • Injury in which there is a broken bone/bleeding that cannot be stopped
  • Serious fall
  • Unable to wake someone
  • Individual out of control
  • Individual hallucinating
  • Individual having an extreme allergic reaction
  • Extreme paranoid behavior AFTER you call 911, Call the owners and inform them of the situation. Then move to a safe place to wait on the arrival of emergency assistance
